Cristina Espinosa da Silva, PHD, MPH

Dr. Cristina Espinosa da Silva is an epidemiologist and Post-Doctoral Scholar in the Division of HIV, Infectious Disease, and Global Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Prior to joining UCSF, she received her doctoral degree (Epidemiology) from the University of California San Diego and her Masters in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Espinosa da Silva’s post-doctoral research includes: machine learning-based modeling to assess the utility of leveraging routinely collected laboratory data from electronic health records to better identify people with and without HIV engaging in biomarker-measured substance use, a systematic review and two-part individual participant data meta-analysis on the effects of alcohol reduction interventions on HIV-related outcomes among people with HIV in global settings, and other longitudinal analyses examining associations between alcohol use and HIV-related health outcomes (e.g., HIV viral suppression, mortality risk).
